John D. Carr

A veteran of the Iraq War, and retired U.S. Army Officer, John D. Carr has worn many hats in his legal career. Shortly after law school, he served as staff counsel to the Illinois Speaker of the House. He has also served as a Judge Advocate General in the United States Army, and as a public policy analyst for Cook County, Illinois. John is also a registered lobbyist in the State of Illinois and was at one time, registered with the States of Wisconsin and Iowa as well.

In addition to numerous individuals in various employment related claims, John has served on the Governmental Affairs team for Fortune 500 companies and has been legal counsel to the Illinois Trial Lawyers’ Association.

John became of counsel to Maduff & Maduff in 2014 and has been an active part of our practice. His experience both in legislative affairs and pension law contributed greatly to the firms’ success in the pension and health care insurance premium deductions cases, both of which resulted in injunctions against the State.

John received his B.A. from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Illinois. He is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
