Janice M. Pintar is a graduate (cum laude) of the University of Wisconsin Law School. While there, she served as Managing Editor of the school’s esteemed Law Review, and published an article on infliction of emotional distress claims. She has received several awards from the school including an academic achievement award in the subject area of trial evidence.

During her law school career, Ms. Pintar also participated in the legal community outside of the University. She was an intern for Justice Ann Walsh Bradley of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, where she conducted research and prepared legal memoranda on numerous opinions eventually issued by that Court. She has also worked with the office of the County Prosecutor handling numerous criminal cases affecting an array of constitutional rights. These experiences led to an interest in constitutional law and civil rights. In late 2001, she took a position with a small law firm doing many of the day to day things done by lawyers in the civil rights arena including preparation of trial court and appellate court briefs and memoranda.

Prior to entering law school, Ms. Pintar supervised operations of a business-to-business bookstore. Her responsibilities also extended to both client services and marketing.

Ms. Pintar also has both trial and appellate experience. Her superb writing skills have resulted in success after success in major cases, and she was heavily involved with drafting the briefs in the firm’s notable success in appeal no. 02-3202 before the 7th Circuit for which she was also responsible for most of the research. And in August of 2003, she won every pre-trial motion in a complex sexual harassment case before the U.S. District Court. She has repeatedly prevailed on written motions to dismiss federal cases resulting in settlements of claims for age discrimination, overtime violations, and Family and Medical Leave Act claims in addition those described above.

Ms. Pintar’s successes have not been limited to federal litigation. She has handled cases before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois Human Rights Commission and even the Cook County Commission on Human Rights.

Ms. Pintar is admitted to practice law within the states of Illinois and Wisconsin and the General Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. She is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and its Illinois Chapter, the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Chicago Bar Association (CBA).
