Meaghen A. Russell

Meaghen Russell hails from London, Ontario. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors in political science from the University of Western Ontario, and holds a dual Canadian/American Law degree Cum Laude from the University of Windsor, Ontario, and the University of Detroit Mercy. Her accolades in law school are numerous including:

During law school Meaghen interned with Michigan Court of Appeals, Judge Christopher Murray, where she drafted bench memoranda and an extensive opinion of the Court in a complex criminal appeal. Thereafter, she articled with Lerners, LLP of Ontario handling all aspects of litigation drafting in employment law including but not limited to legal memoranda, pleadings, affidavits, motions, and briefs. She also had the opportunity to make appearances arguing motions before the Ontario Superior Court.

Meaghen’s other legal experience includes working for an international trade panel on issues relating to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and interning with the United States Department of the Interior. She was also a case worker for Community Legal Aid where she was able to assist low income clients with housing and small claims issues which included everything from drafting legal documents and correspondence to official affidavits.

In a prior life, Meaghen has served in human resources functions including recruitment and background checking which naturally lead to an interest in employment law. Meaghen’s Canadian experience compliments Maduff & Maduff’s already strong international focus in employment law which already included litigation and expatriot negotiation in the United States, England, Mexico, Western Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Meaghen is licensed to practice law in the Ontario Provincial Courts, Canadian National Courts, the State of Illinois, and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
