Stephen P. Drew Stephen P. Drew received both his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1971 and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1974. He has been a tireless advocate of civil rights for more than 30 years handling both Section 1983 (Police Misconduct) cases and employment discrimination cases from Illinois to Michigan to Tennessee. Since graduating from law school Stephen has been a part of the developing history of employment law from the early years of Title VII to the more recent development of the ADA, ADEA, and FMLA.

In 1989 Stephen received an ACLU Civil Libertarian of the Year Award, an N.A.A.C.P. Volunteer Award in 1982, the Floyd Skinner Justice Giant’s Award in 1988, and a Champions of Justice Award. He is listed in several Who’s Who’s including:

  • Who’s Who in America
  • Who’s Who of American Lawyers
  • Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America; and
  • Who’s Who Among Black Americans

Stephen is a Fellow of the American Bar Association’s College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has been listed in "The Best Lawyers of America" for 2007, and was first awarded the distinction of "Super Lawyer" in 2006.

Stephen has served on the Judicial Selection Committee for the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and for the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He is a faculty member of the Hillman Advocacy clinic and an Advisory Board member for the Institute of Continuing Education Employment Law Section. Stephen has also served as President of the Floyd Skinner Bar Association and as President of the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
